Chris McGrorty - Partner

I was Articled in Ealing, West London and, after qualifying, worked in the West End and the City before joining The Merriman Partnership in 1976. I became a partner in 1978.

Having worked in most of the disciplines of a Market Town firm, including criminal law and domestic & commercial conveyancing, as well as Private Client work, I now head the Private Client Department of the practice, advising on Wills, Inheritance Tax planning, Probate, Powers of Attorney and Elderly Client Law.

One of the reasons for leaving London was that clients were, very often, just voices on the end of the ‘phone. I enjoy the personal contact with clients which is so much a feature of practicing in Marlborough and, particularly, such an important part of Private Client work. Indeed, this goes to the root of the practice ethos of personal service to clients which is so rewarding.

Tim Cameron - Partner

I moved to the Marlborough area over 20 years ago from the West Country where I trained. Since then,  I have worked for a variety of law firms in city and market town locations and have during that time dealt in many areas of the law.

I became a partner of the firm on joining in 2003.

For many years now I have specialised in dealing with commercial property work. My work covers many areas from freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, commercial leases for shops and offices to the sale and purchases of green field and brown field sites for residential developer clients and subsequent sales off. I also deal with related property issues, such as overage clauses, rights of way, boundaries, fishing rights and first registrations of title.

Katy Tuckey - Partner - Family Specialist

I qualified in 1989 and worked in Bristol before joining The Merriman Partnership in September 2006. I am a partner in the firm. As a specialist family lawyer, I am head of the department specialising in family law including all aspects of divorce, civil contract and relationship breakdown.

This includes resolution of property ownership and other financial issues; disputes relating to children; problems where powers of attorney are disputed and disagreements arising in connection with the estate of someone who has died.

For those who prefer to agree the arrangements that will apply on separation before committing themselves to a new relationship, I specialize in preparing pre-nuptial and cohabitation agreements.

I am a member of Resolution, the association of specialist family lawyers. I am trained as a Collaborative Lawyer (see www.collaborativefamilylawyers.co.uk or www.resolution.org.uk for further information about Collaborative Law practice).

I take pride in being a lawyer who seeks workable solutions to difficult issues by negotiation or issuing the court proceedings when necessary.  My clients are kind enough to describe me as being responsive, astute and sensible.

Vanessa Gist - Partner - Property Team

I qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and for the last 15 years have worked in the Marlborough and Pewsey area, dealing with a wide variety of residential property work both locally and further afield in London and elsewhere.  I aim to offer a quick, efficient and proactive service tailored to my client’s individual needs.
